The past few days have definitely filled me with a little bit of anxiety. Wetaskiwin shut down all public facilities, and yesterday there were provincial closures to schools and daycares. It is frightening and is a time of uncertainty. We need constants, planning, compassion, and understanding.
I fully expected sellers to want to pull listings and limit showings, and some do. But the majority still want showings to happen, still want their house to sell and want open houses done.
But how are we going to keep everyone safe?
There are a few things that I am doing; that most Realtors are doing to make sure everyone stays healthy and safe while searching for a new home. We have an obligation during these times, to make sure everyone stays healthy.
1. If you are unwell, fit any of the criteria for COVID-19, we will not go and see homes. The same goes for myself and sellers.
2. My listings will have hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes. EVERYTHING will be wiped down before the showing, and I will wipe everything down as we leave to keep everyone safe.
3. I will ask that the sellers of any property you want to see, disinfect all commonly touched surfaces, and again I will wipe everything down when we leave. I will be bringing hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes/spray with me.
4. I have a creative solution for anyone who wants to see a property but doesn't want the PHYSICALLY go and see the property due to the level of unknown risks going into someone else's house.
I will go to the property for you, video conference you in, if you wish, or I can do a walkthrough video and email it to you. You can stay home, look at the property in more detail and we can make a decision if it's one you would want to physically go and see or not. This will save time on properties that aren't entirely what you want. And you can chill in your pjs!
